Breath
Overview
Restorative Breath work delivers a great healthy punch to the nervous system and a sensation to the body that it’s time to reset, rest, be in the moment at hand with every inhale and exhale. We use rather large calming movement with breath that is our biggest gift to change any moment of panic or pain to contentment and moving through challenge, grief, or fear. In fact, Rachel Zoffness, one of the leading experts in our country on chronic pain has shared with science-based evidence of how breath and the brain work together to help mitigate pain. The Pain Management Workbook, “change your brain, change your pain-that’s the empowering message interwoven in this evidence-based workbook by pain expert Rachel Zoffness.”
This part of class is short, but sweet with a feeling of calm, centeredness and a fresh-start feel for rest of the day. Breath work takes practice but its also one of the biggest power-tools we have as humans to douse down or change stormy feelings towards peace. When the hard life-stuff calls our name, our breath is our partner that never leaves us, and offers us an invitation to use it to equip us to rise to the challenge at hand with wisdom, not reaction. Just breathe – so cliché but such a powerful ally and friend.
